OUR PURPOSE S.T.A.R.S. is a non-profit publicly supported Summer Youth Enrichment Program dedicated to the empowerment, employment, educational achievement and enrichment of all youth. S.T.A.R.S. has taken the given, which is a known fact, sports, music and the entertainment industry is the only chance most kids have at a better life. Our programs expand the opportunities for all youth to benefit from sports skills and instruction, engage in sports competition while improving their physical fitness. S.T.A.R.S. features an innovative hands on work based learning experience program, which teaches youth for five weeks during summer break from school in job positions involving the creative process of feature film production including, pre-production, location scouting, casting, shooting, post-production and on screen premiers. Our focus is summer employment, and on the job training in a positive role model environment, while motivating students to stay in school and graduate. The underlying principal in our Youth Opportunity Program (YOP) is to reduce poverty and unemployment among youth aged 14 to 21. By concentrating our efforts in the areas of most interest, we will change the negative mindset of today’s youth with regards to self worth thus, producing better citizens for the future. Visionary Business, seeing something before others, is how we leave a legacy. We are taking the given, which is a statistical fact—sports, music and the entertainment industry are the only chance most kids have, to make a better life for themselves. Our belief is that education through creative experiences opens the doors of the world to our youth.
